Amazon Aeroponic System

  • Before you begin ensure the Amazon nutrient tank is placed on a level surface.
  • Fill the tank with water to the maximum fill level (requires 50 Litres) which is indicated on the inside of the tank. If you have the time, fill your tank 2-3 days before transplanting. This will allow the water temperature to rise to room temperature and allow any chlorine to escape from tap water (if used).
  • Place the root chamber on top of the tank.
  • Assemble the Amazon delivery system, ensuring all the sprinklers point upwards. The arrows on them will indicate this.

  • Place the delivery system in position; the side arms should rest on grooves on the base of the chamber. Once in position you should be able to connect the pump to the delivery system through the hole in the root chamber. The pump will secure to the bottom of the nutrient tank with the rubber sucker on its base.
  • Place the lid of the Amazon in position, and plug your pump in to test the sprinklers. Once you have checked that all four are working fit the correx tank cover to protect the nutrient solution from light.

  • If like us, you have raised your plants in an aeroponic propagator, make sure the plants are strong and healthy and then carefully guide the plants into the system. If you have raised themin a compost pot or in Grodan make sure the plant is extremely well rooted, this will give more chance of a successful transplant.

Amazon Update 1

Amazon aeroponic

It's been just three weeks since we transplanted the plants to the Amazon system and already we are starting to see unbelievable growth. However this is only the beginning.

You can see here exactly what is behind all that growth. Roots hanging in a permanent mist of nutrient solution, free to take up as much water, oxygen and food as they require which results in an incredible speed of growth and a clean root environment, more resistant to disease.

Amazon Update 2

Another two weeks have passed and the peppers have continued their steady rapid growth as kindly demonstrated by our greenhouse technician. The roots have also continued to grow and are as healthy as ever

We have also had our first fruit set on two of the plants; the one in the picture is the Red Rocotta, after just five weeks!

Amazon Update 3

Amazon aeroponic

We have had significant growth in the Amazon in the past three weeks. The plants have become denser and will soon start to dominate the space in our demonstration centre.

We wanted to take a picture showing development in the roots. However, our attempts were thwarted by the growth of the Giant Szegedi roots, which are now covering the front part of the tank as you can see!

Amazon Update 4

All four of the pepper plants are still thriving in our Amazon system. They have now been in the system over three months and still continue to grow.

Here's an updated shot of the roots. They have now filled the left hand side of the chamber and are beginning to take over the remaining space.

This week we harvested the fruit from the Giant Szegedi sweet pepper and the Red Rocotta Chilli plants. That's large, healthy, ripe fruit in a little over three months!

Here is the final photograph of our Amazon system in all its glory. Shortly after this photo was taken we took the four pepper plants down to make way for new displays in our demonstration centre.

Right until the end of its life the four plants were bearing plenty of fruit as you can see from the photograph. We grew all four plants using nothing but NL Evolution feed, available from Nutriculture.

The Amazon is one of the best methods of achieving fantastic growth and outstanding yields and the results below prove it.

Red Rocotta - 482 Fruit
Orange Chiero - 400 Fruit
Friars Hat - 484 Fruit
Giant Szegedi - 25 Fruit

The last of the chilli peppers has had its first fruit set, the Orange Chiero. This is the hottest variety we have transplanted this year.

That gives us an enormous total of 1,133 fruits from four plants! Unbelievable results from a system that truly works!

The Amazon is available in single and twin lid sizes and various plant spacings.
