  • Place the tank on a level surface

  • Place the tray on the tank with the drain at the access and fill the tank with water

  • Secure the pump in position and attach the delivery tube to the pump outlet

  • Fix the four-way dripper on to the top of the delivery tube using the threaded nipple and ensure you are using the correct dripper. Using clay pebbles or a free flowing medium you should use a 'flood' dripper and if your growing in Coco or Soil you should use a 'restricted' dripper. The Wilma comes with both drippers and full instructions.

  • Place pots in position on the tray

  • Fill pots with your chosen growing medium

  • We've chosen to grow in clay pebbles so were using the 'flood' drippers

Transplant

After transplanting add nutrients at 1/2 the recommend full dose on your nutrient bottle. We are using NL Evolution, which is around 5ml per litre. It's important to only feed your plants at this stage 1/2 strength nutrient to encourage them to develop a strong root system.

Advice

We recommend using the system with a 15 minute segmental timer.

Running times:

We recommend 1 or 2 floods a day when the plants are young and then observe the plant as it grows to decide on the amount of watering needed. The maximum number of floods is 1 'on' period per hour during daylight hours, but most fully mature plants will not need this many.

WILMA Update 1

It's now 16 days since the trial began and the plants have grown just under 3 ft. After measuring the nutrient uptake we also decided to increase the floods from 4 a day to 5 a day.

The first truss continues to develop and it won't be long before the first fruits start to set.

WILMA Update 2

The plants in the Wilma are now very close to 8ft tall. Watch in the coming weeks how we start to layer our plants to maximise the use of space and headroom in the demonstration centre.

The fruit on the first truss have continued to develop and it won't be long now before they are ripe enough to pick.

Whilst the first fruit get ready to ripen the flowers on the fifth truss have started to open.

WILMA Update 3

We have now tied the plants to the ExoFrame to give extra support as more and more fruit set and the plants get heavier. The frames are perfect for support and also keep your growing area tidy. They are available in a range of sizes or as separates to build to specific requirements.

We've a lot of ripening, easy-to-pick fruit as a result of training the fruit clockwise around our Exoframe.

The roots are now through the bottom of the pots into the reservoir tank, where they'll continue to grow.

Wilma Update 4

We have even more trusses of flowers opening near the top of our plants.

Our dripper fed plants have managed another 20cm of growth, despite the low light levels in the last week.

The roots are quite happy to keep growing in the reservoir tank.
